DeepSeek Is The Next TikTok

Don’t get me wrong the DeepSeek AI is actually incredible

I’ve been using various different AIs for my separate business Stoic Growth for a couple years at this point and I’ve been playing around with DeepSeek over the last couple of days

It truly is better than all American competitors (and of course all American AIs are better than anything coming out of any country other than China)

But there is one fundamental problem that will hold DeepSeek back and likely cut it’s value in half over the course of one random night at some point in the future

And it’s the exact same thing holding TikTok back as well…

The Chinese Communist Party

DeepSeek is hard coded to avoid certain “unfortunate” events from Chinese history. Ask about a Chinese billionaire who disappeared a few years ago and DeepSeek will have no recollection of their existence.

Ask what happened on June 4th 1989 and the AI swiftly begins to speak of the Tiananmen Square massacre before instantly cutting itself off and stating that nothing of note happened at all.

Just as TikTok use their algorithm to push the interests of the Chinese Communist Party, to collect data on their behalf, and to suppress views or statements that they don’t want talked about, DeepSeek has been setup in the same way.

This isn’t actually much of a problem for most consumers. When I’m using an AI language model, it’s for my work. It’s to run a little bit of market research for an Ideal Client Profile or it’s asking about emotional triggers for writing copy, or even for some help regarding navigating a software.

I actually don’t need my AI to tell me about controversial events and be impartial. But I do need the AI to be entirely separate of the US’s current greatest rival and enemy.

What good is an AI that can change and revolutionise the world if it’s owned & controlled by the Chinese Communist Party and will inevitably be banned one day by the US government.

TikTok’s Dance With Death

I might’ve been laughed out of the room if I had made a claim like this a few years ago, but TikTok really did get banned for a day before Trump stepped in and extended the deadline for TikTok’s sale.

And lets be perfectly honest, the likely reason for Trump stepping in was that he had huge levels of support throughout his campaign from those on TikTok and it was instrumental in getting young people out to vote for him.

Can the same be said for an AI language model? The simple answer is no. 

Trump, Biden, Harris, Obama & Clinton at the end of the day all subscribe to one single idea, that America is world hegemon and it should remain that way.

Banning the best micro-chips in the world from being exported to China was an attempt to keep their tech industry behind the US’s and it seemed to have worked for some industries, but clearly not AI.

One thing we certainly can count on however? Is that regardless of who is in power in the future, the CCP will be treated as an enemy, and the tech companies the CCP controls will be treated as hostile foreign entities as well.

TikTok was ready to give up around 50% of it’s entire revenue base (170 million Americans) purely because the board didn’t want to sell 50% of their shares.

They were willing to abandon a minimum of $500 Billion in enterprise value with literally no gain on their end whatsoever. What could possibly be the reason for such an irrational move?

Well it wasn’t irrational to the Chinese Communist Party, and they were the decision makers. TikTok is a CCP asset. DeepSeek is a CCP asset. 

All of these corporations are controlled through threats of violence by the Chinese state, and that places a ticking time bomb on the businesses themselves as the US will not sit idly by and pretend that isn’t the case.
